Approximately 50% of men over the age of 40 will experience problems like erectile (1) dysfunction. Erectile dysfunction can occur at any age, but the risk of developing erectile dysfunction increases with age.

In the Massachusetts Male Aging Study, it notes that the prevalence of erectile (2) dysfunction was 52% in men 40-70 years of age.

Causes for Erectile Dysfunction

There are a lot of reasons which can cause ED. The reasons can be both emotional and physical.

Some of the causes of ED is as follow:

  • Hypertension
  • Diabetes
  • Stress
  • Anxiety
  • Addiction to Drugs
  • Alcohol
  • Obesity
  • Lifestyle Issue
  • Relationship issues
  • Excessive smoking
  • Injury
  • Surgery
  • Cardiovascular Disease

There can be a single cause, or the combination of multiple causes as mentioned above. During the Initial consultation we will go through a set of questions to help diagnosis the cause of ED.

Where are the Acupuncture needles placed during treatment?

Many would think Acupuncture needles are places near or even at the affected area for ED patients.

This is a very common misunderstanding, in fact needles are only used on the legs, hands, scalp and lower back areas. So, Acupuncture is a safe and not invasive method in treating ED.

How Many sessions will I need before seeing results?

We all respond to treatments very differently; for some ED patients they response well after 1 treatment, for others a few treatments are needed. I usually recommend 6 treatments before reviewing.

How long are the treatment sessions?

Allow a good 45 mins for Initial Consultation plus treatment and 30 mins for subsequent treatments.

Are there natural supplements I can take to help ED?

I always find it beneficial for patients to take herbal medicine/supplements to enhance their Acupuncture treatments. A consultation is needed to diagnosis which type of herbal medicine/supplements is suited as every patient condition and body constitution may be different.
